I spent over a month living and working in Barcelona while my daughter attended an international nursery. During that time, I did lots of research on this site and explored all the neighbourhoods in Barcelona.
I also visited many hotels by booking spas, pools, and dining day passes. My daughter and I enjoyed exploring Barcelona’s family-friendly attractions, and I know lots about the dos and don’ts of choosing a stay in Barcelona!

Best Barcelona Hotels for Families

The Hilton Diagonal Mar is in the far east of Barcelona, steps away from the last beach in Barcelona (Llevant Beach – my favourite!) before the coast gets to Badalona.
The hotel is opposite the Diagonal Mar Shopping Centre, offering a variety of shopping and dining options for the whole family. We opted for pizza!
Adjacent to the hotel is a large park, providing the perfect spot for kids to play or for leisurely family walks.
The hotel is located just a five-minute walk from the nearest metro station, El Maresme, making the city centre easily accessible in just 20 minutes. A large taxi rank is situated directly outside the hotel, giving you an alternative, more private transport option.
The Hilton Diagonal Mar has double or twin rooms, rooms with a sofa bed for extra family space, and executive rooms which offer access to the Hilton executive lounge.
Connecting rooms are also available for larger families, ensuring everyone stays together. You can also access the executive lounge with Diamond Hilton Honours Status.
Children up to 18 years old are welcome to stay free of charge, and those aged 12 and under enjoy complimentary breakfast. Cots can be provided on request. Room service is available if needed.
The hotel’s pool is Purobeach Barcelona, which has been voted one of the best beach clubs in Europe. Purobeach features an outdoor pool and paddling pool available from April to October.
There are Balinese beds, sunbeds, and massages available to book. Out of season, prices for this hotel drop because the beach club is closed.
The hotel is home to Aürt, a restaurant managed by Michelin-starred chef Artur Martinez, serving a delightful fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisines. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. My daughter loved the waiters topping up her orange juice!
